Alex holds a BA from McGill and an MFA from York University. She has taught acting technique to students at Appleby College, Branksome Hall, the Akiva School, YPT, Concordia University and York University. She teaches puppetry to Shaw Festival Company members, Early Childhood Educators through the Wee festival, Toronto School of Puppetry, Glendon College, and Shakespeare in Action. When she is not creating theatre, Alex is an arts educator who has facilitated performance training to professional actors, students in elementary, high school, and university. She is a founding member of Toronto’s experimental Puppetry slam: Concrete Cabaret and a core company member of Lucid Ludic physical theatre company. She has worked with the Shaw Festival, Watermark Theatre, Thousand Islands Playhouse, Young People’s Theatre, Theatre Direct, Shadowland, Theatre Rusticle, Infinitheatre, L’Autre théâtre, Wee Festival, SummerWorks, Rhubarb, and Fringe Festivals across Canada. Alexandra Montagnese is a Dora Award Winning director, actor, puppeteer, and theatre creator.
